Amy Woodruff: A big confidence lifter

Forwards speaks after brace.

Amy Woodruff cover vs Blackburn

Amy Woodruff and Kath Smith were to thank as Leeds United Women registered a late, late three points with victory over Blackburn Rovers Women on Sunday.

During the trip to Lancashire, Woodruff levelled proceedings mid-way through the second half, before Smith dispatched a penalty and the forward bagged again to secure the win on the 90+5 mark.

"A big relief when that final whistle went," Woodruff said after the game. "I thought we played through some pressure on our shoulders throughout the full 90, but it's about staying composed, staying focussed and I think we came together at the end.

"It's massive having everyone back who suffered through injuries. It's just so much more confidence behind the XI and behind the bench that everyone supports each other. The girls that came on today changed the game for me."

On scoring a brace: "It's nice. I think coming back from injury, it's just what you need. To get two goals is a big confidence lifter and mentally pushes me on now for the rest of the season.

"The results have all gone our way today, but we're not focussed on it now. It's all down to us, only we can control how we do going forward.

"We've got a massive March with so many games. So we're just going to recover well, regroup, and focus on Wednesday now, not other teams."
