Leeds United Women continued their impressive unbeaten run with a professional 2-0 victory away at Durham Cestria, courtesy of two first-half goals.
Brittany Sanderson opened the scoring inside three minutes before Darcie Greene was alert to double the advantage.
After the game, captain Shauna Legge said: “We knew it was going to be a tough test coming here, as it's always a tough place to come. We knew the challenges they would pose to us and we prepared for it well.
“Getting that early goal helped us settle into the game, and obviously going in at half-time 2-0 was really helpful. It was a tough second half but we managed it.
“We knew what they were about. They're an intense team and quite similar to us from what we'd seen in our preparation, so we knew it was going to be a battle.”
Despite a dominant first-half display from the Whites, the hosts grew into the game after the interval, forcing Leeds to demonstrate their defensive resilience once more to secure another clean sheet.
“The second half was a bit different, as they came out with a bit more intensity, but I felt we managed it well. We were sensible with our decision-making and managed not to concede.
“Clean sheets are something we've wanted to pride ourselves on this season and we've managed to get another one today.”
Looking ahead to next week's FA Cup Second Round tie against Norton & Stockton Ancients, the skipper highlighted the importance of maintaining their winning momentum.
“League and cup, we want to win every game, so bouncing from each result just helps. We're playing every week and winning.”
