DARKO GETS POSITIVE RESPONSE

United head coach pleased with the squad's reaction...

United head coach Darko Milanic admits his side must improve on Friday night’s defeat at Rotherham, but says the response in training has been positive ahead of the trip to Norwich.

After taking the lead through Mirco Antenucci on the half-hour mark, second-half goals from Alex Revell and Jonson Clarke-Harris condemned Milanic’s men to a 2-1 defeat at the New York Stadium.

United now travel to Carrow Road on Tuesday evening (7.45pm) as they look to end a four-game winless run in the Championship and the Slovenian coach believes his players are ready to bounce back.

"The first day after the defeat was not easy, but on Monday we had a great training session," said Milanic.

"We try to improve ourselves in training and analyse the game and our next game. We are focused for Tuesday night.

"We played part of the game extremely good but when we made a little mistake, we were punished last Friday.

"This means we have to not do the mistakes and when we have chances to score, we have to score.

"In the game against Rotherham we had some good actions and we had to score a second goal.

"Not only in the defence, all the team together has to do better in attacking play and defensive play."

United were largely on top during the first half of the Yorkshire derby but Milanic says the dip in performance after the break will make him consider how he sets his side up to face Norwich.

"It changes in what I saw in this game," said the 46-year-old. "This means we have to think about the game – what we did good, what we did wrong, what we have to do better.

"It was part of the game where we were very good, where we created chances, played very well and the opponents were not really in the game.

"But there was also 15 or 20 minutes of the game where the opponents were extremely good and we had bad possession. We have to play our game for 90 minutes."
