REDFEARN: WE GOT IT SPOT ON

Head coach gives his verdict on victory over Bournemouth...

Neil Redfearn spoke of his delight after seeing his side secure a spirited 1-0 win over league leaders Bournemouth at Elland Road.

Luke Murphy’s stunning first-half strike proved to be the difference against the high-flying Cherries, despite United surving a late penalty scare as Yann Kermorgant smashed the crossbar from 12 yards.

"It was a great victory," said Redfearn.

"I think we got it spot on. I think we pressured them.

"Bournemouth are a great side like I said beforehand but they play one way and I don’t think they’ve got another way of playing.

"They want to play and they want to pass the ball. But we stopped them.

"In the first half I thought we made it very difficult and got into them, and we got our goal.

"In the second half they were always going to come out of the traps but because we worked hard, I thought we earned our luck."

Redfearn’s men are now three games unbeaten after also picking up points against Bolton and Birmingham, and the head coach believes his side are showing signs of heading in the right direction.

"We’ve just taken points off three of the form sides. We’ve proven on our day that we’re capable," he said.

"The problem is we’ve had a stop-start season. We got it going in that first caretaker spell I had when we had the run and got some points on the board.

"Then I had to pick it up again and it’s been tough. But I think the signs are there.

"We’ve found a different way of playing, we’ve found that we can play with a bit of width.

"We’ve got some passion back into it, some aggression and some tempo, and players have come to the fore.

"It’s looking a lot better."
