BOLTON: STAT PACK

BOLTON: STAT PACK

Andrew Dalton provides the stats ahead of our Macron Stadium trip...

It's back to Championship football for Leeds United as they look to complete their first double over Bolton Wanderers since the 1997/98 season.

United's last five visits to Bolton:
September 14th 2013 - Bolton Wanderers 0-1 Leeds United, Championship
October 2nd 2012 - Bolton Wanderers 2-2 Leeds United, Championship
May 2nd 2004 - Bolton Wanderers 4-1 Leeds United, Premiership
December 16th 2002 - Bolton Wanderers 0-3 Leeds United, Premiership
December 26th 2001 - Bolton Wanderers 0-3 Leeds United, Premiership

Five key moments at Bolton:
Robbie Fowler will have happy memories of playing Bolton Wanderers. On Boxing Day 2001, he grabbed a hat-trick as well as missing a penalty as Leeds bounced back from a 4-3 defeat at home to Newcastle four days earlier.

Fast forward a year and with mounting pressure on then manager Terry Venables, Leeds produced a performance to keep their manager happy. Goals from Danny Mills, Robbie Fowler again and a rocket from Jason Wilcox eased the pressure on El Tel with a 3-0 win.

Sadly, a year later, Leeds' 14-year stay in the top flight was effectively ended at the Reebok Stadium. Leeds took a first half lead from the penalty spot from Mark Viduka, however the Aussie striker was soon heading for an early bath and Leeds collapsed as goals from Youri Djorkaeff (2), an Ian Harte own and a Kevin Nolan effort saw the Whites crash to a 4-1 loss.

United's final visit to the Old Burnden Park came on February 14 1996 in the FA Cup Fourth Round. The games took three attempts to take place and only one minute to settle the tie as a Rod Wallace goal was enough to book a Fifth Round home fixture with Port Vale.

Leeds' last league visit to Burnden Park took place three days after the Whites had defeated Manchester United on Christmas Eve 1995 and they made it back-to-back league wins thanks to goals from Tomas Brolin and a header from David Wetherall.

Michael Ricketts – Ricketts joined Bolton from Walsall in the summer of 2000 and made 112 appearances, scoring 46 times. From Bolton he joined Middlesbrough before moving to Leeds in the summer of 2004. His spell at Elland Road proved to be an unhappy one as he managed to find the net just twice in 29 games.

Mike Whitlow – Whitlow joined Leeds from Witton Albion as one of Howard Wilkinson’s first signings as manager. At Elland Road he made 96 appearances, scoring four goals before joining Leicester in March 1992. He then joined Aston Villa and Celtic before switching to Leeds in January 2007 originally on loan. His move was made permanent in the summer of 2007 and in total he made 25 appearances for Leeds, scoring five times.

Lubomir Michalik – The Slovakian joined Bolton from Senec in January 2007 and was loaned to Elland Road within two months, making seven appearances for Leeds.
