ROSS RETURNS FOR TREATMENT

Striker withdraws from Scotland squad...

Ross McCormack has withdrawn from the Scotland squad due to injury.

The striker, a late call-up for the international squad last week, stepped off the subs bench for the final 21 minutes of Friday's 0-0 draw against the USA at Hampden Park.

But, while his Scotland team-mates head out to Norway for Tuesday's friendly in Molde, McCormack is heading back to Yorkshire to undergo treatment on a hamstring injury.

"He's returning for treatment," confirmed boss Brian McDermott. "It's a slight hamstring injury and we're optimistic he'll be okay for the weekend."

Ross was the only United star to tread the international stage at the weekend.

The Republic of Ireland got off to a good start under their new management team of Martin O'Neill and Roy Keane, but United midfielder Paul Green was an unused substitute as the Irish beat Latvia 3-0.

Marius Zaliukas will be hoping to gain another international cap on Monday evening when Lithuania line-up against Moldova.
