Leeds United Under-21s play their penultimate away match of their Premier League 2 Division 2 season on Monday evening (7pm), taking on Stoke City away from home.

The Whites head to The Swansway Stadium in Cheshire aiming to reclaim their lead at the top of the table. Paco Gallardo’s side are one point behind Southampton who are currently top, having played two matches more.

Last time out at Elland Road, Leeds dispatched of Sunderland with a hard-fought 3-1 victory. Mateo Joseph extended his tally for the season with a double in the game, whilst Sonny Perkins continued his fine season by also scoring in the win.

Stoke will be the next tough opponents for the Under-21s when they head to the home of Nantwich Town to take them on. The Potters come into the game on the back of a thumping 6-1 win away from home against Derby County, but did follow that strong result up with a 2-0 loss to Southampton on Friday night.

These two teams met one another at the City of York Council’s LNER Community Stadium earlier this season, which saw Leeds secure another excellent three points in a 4-0 success.

This time around, Leeds are hoping to use the advantage of having matches in hand over their opponents to go back to the top of the league, as the battle with both the Saints and Nottingham Forest looks set to continue right to the end of the season.

Top scorer for Monday's hosts is Dara McGuinness. The 19-year-old has six to his name up to now, scoring most recently in the big win over the Rams for his side.

The Whites can boast having the top scorer in the division. After his double last time out, Joseph now has 15 for the campaign and the striker has also been an instant hit on international duty too, scoring twice for England Under-20s in the recent break.
