Leeds United Women face another test this weekend as they welcome Durham Cestria to the Bannister Prentice Stadium.
The Whites fell to a narrow defeat late on against Middlesbrough last time out, losing 3-2 to the Teessiders in Garforth.
The start of the new campaign brought a tricky set of fixtures for Simon Wood’s side to navigate, pitting them against recently relegated Huddersfield Town and AFC Fylde, as well as promotion hopefuls Stockport County and Boro in their opening four matches.
Keen to bounce back, forward Sian Gibrill-Keating believes her teammates can use that disappointing result to motivate them as they look to kickstart their season.
“It is difficult, but we have just got to put our main focus towards the next game, which we are ready for,” explained the 23-year-old.
“The last two games, we have gone from a goal behind and we have had to sort of pick ourselves back up. So that strong mentality is what we are wanting to be bringing into this game this weekend.
“I think getting the first goal can change a game in terms of your mentality and even the opposition’s mentality. The fact that we have come from behind and managed to keep ourselves in it is good.
“However, I think this weekend you will see a different side to us where we will be on the front foot and hoping to get that first goal. I think once the first goal goes in, we are really good at getting them next ones in as well.
“It has been a tough start. I think we have done really well, considering the start we have had. However, at the same time, I think we try not to focus too much on who it is that we are playing because every team in this league is capable of beating everyone.
“We have just got to make sure that we come with the same attitude, whoever it is that we are facing, and make sure that our main aim is to get those three points.
“Durham will definitely be a tough game. Last season, we got a positive result and another result that didn’t go our way. We have got to be wary of that but at the same time, our main aim is to get those three points.
“We know we need to be winning these games, especially at the beginning of the season. If you look at the league table, we need to make sure that we are up there and still competing.
“We always have a good turnout of supporters and see familiar faces, so I think we need to give the fans what they deserve.”
