Leeds United defender Robin Koch spoke to the media ahead of Friday’s Premier League trip to Aston Villa.

Koch has been one of the standout performers for the Whites in the first five league games of the season, following his summer move from SC Freiburg.

The German international defender spoke about what it is like being at Leeds and what he has made to life in the Premier League.

“I got a lot of information from watching the Amazon series and in Germany of course you know Leeds United, it’s a big club and a traditional club with supporters around the world,” said Koch.

“The players have told me it’s a crazy atmosphere in the stadium and it’s bad luck for me that I haven’t played in front of them, but hopefully I will get chance to soon.

“When I arrived in Leeds I signed my contract and walked through the city and it was crazy how many people already knew me without playing one game.

“The fans are so passionate, it’s really nice and hopefully I can see them in the stadium was soon as possible.

“I think the Premier League is tougher than the Bundesliga and I would say a little bit quicker in the games.

“In Germany it’s more about ball possession and passing, so I think England is a little bit faster.

“I think we’ve started really well, the first game against Liverpool was a good game from us, but the result could have been better.

“The games after the Liverpool match were really good and we managed to get some results.

“Against Wolves we played a really good game especially in the first half, but we needed to score in the first half and I think then the second half is different.

“It was a good game from us, the only point which was not good was the result.

“The vision of the coach, team and the club about playing football is not typical for a team who has just returned to the Premier League.

“We want to play our game in every game and even against Manchester City and Liverpool we play in the same offensive way.

“This is really important for us and every player, because it is always the best when you play your own game and for me it’s very good to have.”

Leeds now have a quick turnaround from Monday’s defeat at Wolves and Koch spoke about preparations for Friday’s match at Villa Park and what he’s made of Dean Smith’s side.

He said: “It’s important to recover as fast as possible.

“The training this week will be a bit shorter as there’s not much time until the game on Friday, so we have to recover well and focus on the next game.

“Aston Villa have started really good and it will be a tough game on Friday.

“When you win 7-2 against Liverpool, it might happen once in five years, it shows they are really good and playing really well at the moment.”
