Leeds United Women are delighted to announce the arrival of Rick Passmoor, who has joined as the new manager of the team ahead of the 2022/23 season.
Passmoor joins the Whites from Scunthorpe United Football Club, where he held the senior role of Head of Academy Coaching and Coach Development.
A former professional footballer, he also played for the Iron as a central defender, following in the footsteps of his father Tom, keeping up a rich history of football knowledge and traditions from within the family.
The 54-year-old returns to Leeds United Women after previously being in charge earlier in his career, with a large period of success having made the Women's FA Cup final in 2008, winning the League Cup in 2010 and being named ‘Manager of the Season’ during the club’s time in the Women’s Super League.
Passmoor continued his strong history of coaching within the Women’s game elsewhere by leading Notts County to the FA Cup final where they narrowly lost to a strong Chelsea side in 2015.
Continuing his fight for domestic trophies, the coach also oversaw memorable runs to the League Cup finals in 2013 and 2015, agonisingly missing out on the silverware to Arsenal on each occasion.
The Whites are looking to begin a new and exciting journey next season in the FA Women’s National League Division One North and after a stringent recruitment process, Passmoor’s forward-thinking and proven experience within the game made him the stand-out candidate.
Speaking to leedsunited.com, the new manager stated that he was looking forward to beginning work with his new side.
He said: “From my first discussion, it was not going to take me long to say, yes let’s get back to Leeds United, because I have got many happy memories here.
“This club is at the forefront of British and UK football, so to be part of that with the Women’s team is really exciting. I am looking forward to working with the players and helping to take the side forward.”
