Leeds United Women’s manager Rick Passmoor said he saw a different side to his team as they were held to a 1-1 draw by York City on Wednesday evening.

Both sides went into the game on two-game winning streaks but were made to share the points on a chilly evening at the LNER Community Stadium, in front of 2280 supporters.

Leeds had the better of the first half but failed to make their dominance count and fell behind just six minutes into the second half to Jess Holder’s well taken goal. They responded brilliantly though, levelling just six minutes later through Abbie Brown.

“Coming into the game we wanted three points, we wanted to continue that winning streak.” Passmoor said.

“However, after the game, I said to the girls, a point is a good point because tonight we had to dig deep, tonight we weren’t at our best.

“However, what we did do, we had a little bit of a backbone to us and we fought through the 90 minutes so I’ve seen a different side to the players tonight.

“So seven points out of nine, yes tonight could have been better, however I think many teams will come unstuck against York particularly at home whether it’s here or at their other ground at the university.

“So, coming into the game like we said we wanted three points but reflectively now, we’ll take the point, we move forward and we move onto the next game.”

The Whites are back in action on Sunday as they make the trip North to South Shields in the cup. Passmoor expects a tough game and is looking forward to seeing more from his new squad.

“What I want, is to see our processes implemented again, in and out of possession.

“It will be very tough, it’s the FA Cup. However, what I will be doing also is looking at the players, seeing tonight who has picked up knocks, injuries and look fatigued from tonight.

"So I will be calling on the squad for Sunday and it will give players an opportunity to show their worth and grab a shirt.”
