A goal three minutes from time by Abbie Brown sent Leeds United Women to the summit of the Division One North table, making it three wins on the bounce for Dan O’Hearne’s side.
Leeds, who were looking for their third win in just seven days, were on the back foot early on when Bridie Hannon made a superb last ditch challenge to deny Emily Douglas a shot on goal.
The action quickly moved to the other end with Kathryn Smith dipping a shot just over.
Rebekah Bass then tested the opposition 'keeper from the same distance, before Leeds had a huge left off when Mollie Farley headed against the bar for Feds.
The Whites then came close when Olivia Smart forced a smart save from Rachel Darbyshire as the sides went in level at the break, with set-pieces being the main opportunities in the first half.
HALF TIME: Leeds United Women 0-0 Liverpool Feds
The second period followed the same path as the first with neither side giving much away. O’Hearne made a key change at the interval, with the lively Paige Williams being replaced by Brown on the wing.
Straight into the action, the substitute fizzed one wide, before the same player saw her header held by Darbyshire in a good start to the second 45.
Leeds kept up the pressure with Sarah Danby having her shot blocked and then seeing her next strike saved by Darbyshire.
Both teams were pressing forward in search of the winner but the most likely did look to be the Whites, as game edged ever closer to its conclusion.
The breakthrough finally came three minutes from time, after brilliant work from Laura Bartup and Sandra Soares-Martins in the build-up.
The combination between those two found Brown, who finished smartly from inside the box. Leeds held out to make it three wins in a week and move to the top the league table.
