Leeds United Women are looking to record three wins on the bounce for the first time this season as they travel to York City in the FA Women’s National League Division One North.

Rick Passmoor’s side now lead the way at the top of the league with five wins from their opening seven games. Last time out, a 5-0 win saw them leapfrog title favourites Newcastle after the Magpies fell to a 2-1 defeat to Durham Cestria.

York are making their eagerly anticipated debut at the LNER Community Stadium, with a crowd of over 2,000 expected for this Yorkshire derby.

The Minsterbelles sit sixth in the table and also come into the game off the back of two wins.

Previous meetings:

The two sides will be very familiar with each other having met less than a month ago in the FA Women’s National League Cup at York St. John University Sports Complex.

York ran out 2-0 winners to progress, on a frustrating day for the Whites.

The visitors dominated the first half but couldn’t make it count, Abby Brown, Macey Ellis, Rebekah Bass and Amy Woodruff all unable to convert opportunities.

Leeds were made to pay in the second half when goals from Nicola Brown and Jess Heald saw York take a hold of the game and some resolute defending from the hosts, including a Player of the Match display from former Leeds defender Emily Cassidy, saw the Minsterbelles hold out for a 2-0 victory.

Players to watch:

Felicity Jones is York’s top scorer with six goals so far this season but Leeds did manage to keep her quiet in the meeting three weeks ago. Goalkeeper Rebecca Sidwell was on top form the last time out so Leeds will have to find a way past her this time around.

Amy Woodruff will again be tasked with leading the line for the Whites and will be looking to put a run of goals together after netting a brace in the 5-0 demolition of Chorley.

Form:

York City: WWLWLW

Leeds United: WWLLWW
