Preview: Chester-le-Street Town Ladies vs Leeds United Women

Whites hit the road.

Chester-le-Street Moor Park Stadium

Leeds United Women hit the road for their second FA WNL Division One North clash of the campaign, heading to County Durham to face Chester-le-Street Town Ladies.

Last time out, the Whites got their campaign off to a flying start at the BD Community Stadium with a 7-0 dismantling of newly promoted Thornaby Women on opening day.

A poacher's finish from Drew Greene, screamer from Darcie Greene, Chloe Dixon's long-range strike and a brace from Amy Woodruff, alongside two own goals, completed an emphatic afternoon at home for Simon Wood's side as they got the season up and running.

Sunday's opponents were on the receiving end of a high scoreline the previous weekend, losing 6-0 to Stockport County Women on the road.

Last term, Leeds did the double over Chester-le-Street, winning 2-0 on their visit to Moor Park and running out 3-2 winners at Garforth, with Alice Hughes bagging on both occasions to help secure six points.

Action from Moor Park gets underway at 2pm.

The view from inside the camp:

Ahead of the game, midfielder Hughes said: "Excited. Hopefully we can start to create some momentum and build on the first game of the season.

"There are still a lot of areas for improvement so we’ll work hard this week as always to put us in the best position to step it up again on Sunday.

"It was nice to get a few goals as that always gives confidence, and like I say hopefully we build on that and can start to create some momentum to take into the season."
