Leeds United will be keen to bounce back from defeat to Aston Villa when they head to the Etihad Stadium to face Manchester City in Saturday’s Premier League encounter.
The match with The Citizens comes one week after a disappointing result in West Yorkshire which saw United beaten, despite Lukas Nmecha’s opener and a much improved performance. Former Sky Blue forward Nmecha will be looking for his third goal in as many games if selected on Saturday afternoon, and will coming up against some familiar faces.
Daniel Farke's side are currently 18th in the standings after the first 12 matches, 11 points behind 3rd placed City, who will be aiming to close to current leaders Arsenal at the top of the table.
Our upcoming opponents have seen their form described as hit and miss this season, with wins over Manchester United and Liverpool but losses to Brighton and Tottenham. Nevertheless, Pep Guardiola’s squad are always a threat and their expected goals this season is second in the league behind only Chelsea.
Over the years, there have been many memorable encounters between the two teams. Leeds and City have faced off against one another 101 times, with the Whites winning 41 and drawing 16 of those matches. Most memorable in recent times, a Stuart Dallas double sparked jubilant celebrations to secure three points in April 2021.
