Leeds United are delighted to confirm the signing of experienced goalkeeper Michael Zetterer, who joins the club on a three-year-deal.

The 31-year-old shot stopper joins the Whites from German Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt for an undisclosed fee and becomes our fifth signing of a productive summer transfer window.

Born in Munich, Zetterer spent the majority of his youth career with local side SpVgg Unterhaching. He progressed through the academy age groups and would go on to make 32 first team appearances for the club, first appearing as an 18-year-old in 2014.

Catching the eye of teams across the country and within Europe at a young age, the shot-stopper was also recognised within the international setup. After being called up to represent Germany Under-20s, he made five appearances, before going on to represent the Under-21s.

In January 2015, a move to Bundesliga side Werder Bremen was confirmed. Before breaking into the first team with Die Grün-Weißen, loan spells with SK Austra Klagenfurt and PEC Zwolle allowed Zetterer to gain further first team experience.

Returning to Bremen, the German would cement his first team status and racked up 80 appearances before moving onto Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer of 2025.

While at the Deutsche Bank Park, Zetterer made 28 appearances, five of which came in the UEFA Champions League, adding further top level experience before his move to Elland Road this summer.

Due to signing after Friday’s midday Premier League deadline, the goalkeeper will not be available for Sunday’s game with Brentford at Elland Road.
