Leeds United Women will kick off their FA Women’s National League Division One North season on Sunday afternoon, when they face Yorkshire rivals Hull City Ladies (2pm).

The Whites will face the Tigers in Tadcaster, looking to begin the new campaign with a victory in an opening derby match of the 2022/23 campaign.

Both teams go into the new season under new management. Rick Passmoor was appointed manager of Leeds United Women over the summer and he has been pleased with how his new side have taken to his training methods, over pre-season.

Sunday’s visitors Hull City Ladies also made a change at the top, with Chris Hames taking over as first team manager. Having previously managed both Sheffield FC Women and Bradford City Women, Hames knows not only the area but the league, as well.

The manager has challenged his Tigers side to ‘change their mindset’ after a ‘tough few years’, as they aim to climb up the leagues in what is a very challenging division.

Fans are able to attend the match at the So-Track Stadium in Tadcaster (LS24 9AY), with no tickets sold in advance of kick-off, just pay on the day sales only.

Highlights from the season opener will be viewable on LUTV, with full match reports and reaction available on leedsunited.com.

What has Rick Passmoor said, ahead of the match?

“It’ll be a very competitive league with the likes of Hull, Middlesbrough and Newcastle, just to name a few. The players are excited, they are showing a really growing mindset to learn and listen, so I am at the moment, really pleased!”
