Preview: Leeds United vs Liverpool

Whites back in Premier League action.

Elland Road Evening

Leeds United will look to ride the momentum from Wednesday night’s thrilling win over Chelsea when Liverpool come to town for Saturday’s Premier League encounter.

United led from the sixth minute against Enzo Maresca’s outfit, with goals from Jaka Bijol, Ao Tanaka and Dominic Calvert-Lewin delivering an important victory. Leeds expected goal tally of 2.82 was the highest any team have registered against the Blues this season, including in their Champions League fixtures!

Both Calvert-Lewin and fellow striker Lukas Nmecha will be aiming to net their third goals in the last four games, should they be selected to face the reigning Premier League champions this weekend.

Daniel Farke's side are currently 17th in the standings after the first 14 matches, eight points behind 8th placed Liverpool, who will be looking to find form and get their title defence back on track.

After a strong start to the season, winning their first seven matches, the Reds have now lost nine of their last fourteen matches. Nevertheless, Arne Slot’s squad is full of talent and sure to pose a real challenge to Leeds’ aim of climbing away from the bottom three.

Over the years, there have been many memorable encounters between the two teams. Leeds and Liverpool have faced off against one another 121 times, with the Whites winning 28 and drawing 30 of those matches.

Most memorably in recent times, an 89th minute Crysencio Summerville goal secured all three points for Leeds in a 2022 thriller at Anfield.
