Leeds United are delighted to announce legendary forward Mick Jones will be presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award and will become the first ever former player to receive a Heritage Cap.

The presentation will be made at half-time of our Premier League fixture with Brentford on Saturday, where Jones will be welcomed onto the pitch, alongside his family.

Part of the legendary Don Revie side, Jones scored the winning goal of the 1968 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup final, to earn the club a first European major honour.

Alongside this, Jones helped Leeds win two league titles in 1968/69 and 1973/74 finishing as the club’s top scorer in both seasons, the Charity Shield in 1969, the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup for a second time in 1971, and the FA Cup in 1972 for which he assisted Allan Clarke’s match winner.

In total, Jones made 312 appearances for Leeds, scoring 111 goals, from 1967-1975, and also won three England caps.

As part of Marching on Forever, the club’s former players association established in late 2025, former players will be recognised for their contribution and issued with a specially made Leeds United Heritage Cap, of which Jones will be the first to be awarded this weekend.

A fitting recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award, the club encourages supporters to stay seated during half-time, to show your appreciation for a true Leeds United legend.
