Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa spoke to the media following Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship win against Huddersfield Town.
Goals from Luke Ayling and Patrick Bamford secured the Whites a 2-0 win over the Terriers at Elland Road in the West Yorkshire derby.
Bielsa was pleased with the victory, which saw Leeds move above West Bromwich Albion to the top of the table, following five consecutive wins and clean sheets and also spoke about the upcoming final weeks of the campaign.
He said: “It was a match where we defended well.
“We didn’t concede any real chances, apart from one in the first half.
“In attack, we could have scored maybe one more goal, but the team did very well in attack as well.
“The most important thing is what happens when the competition starts to get to the finish line.
“A few months ago we had 11 points of difference, but we lost this difference.
“What we have to do is wait until the end to see what happens.
“We have 27 points left, we don’t know how many points we are going to need, but we have nine matches to get the points we need.
“Of course, there is an anxiety until we get what we are looking for, but this is the same for every team in the league.”
Bielsa also gave an update on Kalvin Phillips who missed the game with the Terriers through injury.
“Until yesterday he had a lot of possibilities to play,” said Bielsa.
“Yesterday, finally, it was decided that he would not play.
“It’s not serious, in the last match he had a limit and supported the pain well.
“Ahead of this match he felt a little bit more uncomfortable, but we think in the next match he will be in the group.”
