Leeds United advanced to the Emirates FA Cup semi-finals where they will face Chelsea, following Lucas Perri denying both Jarrod Bowen and Pablo from the spot.
Throughout the match, the Brazilian made several crucial interventions to deny the Hammers, seeing his side to victory at the London Stadium as the Whites reach the semi-finals for the first time in 39 years.
After the match, Perri spoke to the media to share his thoughts on the memorable tie following his two important saves to progress his side.
“It is the magic of the cup, anything can happen! Today was a crazy game, I think it was a memorable one, and happy that we got to the semifinals.
“We are playing at the highest level of football, and anything can happen in this level. We were able to score two and then in the extra time of the first ninety minutes, they scored twice and forced the game to go to extra time, so we needed to keep our heads steady and focus on the match."
Speaking on his spectacular saves in the shootout, the shot-stopper added: “The first one was one that we had studied a lot. The other ones were more like we had directions, but it was more of my feeling.
“I am so happy that I could make two saves and help the team to qualify. This is the magic of football! I would say the magic of this fanbase is incredible!”
Looking ahead to the final four clash, the goalkeeper said: “We are going to celebrate today and now we have a few Premier League matches in between, so we are going to focus on today, celebrate our qualification to the semi-finals and when the time comes, we are going to prepare to have a good game against Chelsea.”
