Pascal Stuijk Post Match Celebrations

After scoring the deciding penalty to send Leeds United into the Emirates FA Cup semi-finals for the first time in 39 years, Pascal Struijk spoke to the media to share his thoughts on the tie.

“I said before the game it will be a massive, massive win if we won today” the defender started. “To come down to penalties all the way after a big shift and they did well to come back but very happy for us, very happy for the fans. It is an amazing challenge to go now to Wembley and see what we can do there."

Speaking on his decisive penalty, Struijk added: “We were well drilled, from the beginning we knew what to do. I think the team showed real composure, especially in the moments where it was tough and they put the pressure on but I think we were really good.

“Then to see all the penalties, and I have to give a little mention to Lucas [Perri]. He was amazing today as well!”

Looking ahead to the semi-final tie at Wembley, the defender said, “For us it did not really matter who we were going to play.

“If you look at the league, I think we have two good results against Chelsea, so, I do not want to say anything really, but hopefully we can do it the third time.

“After our last experience at Wembley, we want to make a better one. When we go there, we will try and do our best to get good memories.”
