Leeds United will be celebrating the incredible work of the Leeds United Foundation on Saturday as we take on Arsenal in the Premier League, under the theme Breaking Down Barriers.
The club’s official charity supports thousands of people in our local community, specifically working hard to ensure those who may be most vulnerable, or disadvantaged, are given opportunities they may otherwise not have access to.
Through the power of football, the Leeds United Foundation aims to enhance the lives of people across our region and beyond, through initiatives and projects that are focused on education, sport participation, and health and wellbeing.
So far, the charity has supported over 55,000 people across our city, delivering more than 90,000 interventions, with 90% of beneficiaries being children and young people, many from underserved communities.
On Saturday supporters will be able to see Leeds United Foundation branding around Elland Road, with special programme and matchday graphics. There will also be a short feature on the big screen ahead of kick-off showcasing the Foundation’s impact on a number of participants.
Our first-team players will also be showing their support, wearing branded t-shirts for their warm-up, with those shirts then being signed and auctioned via MatchwornShirt after the game, with all proceeds helping to improve and increase the incredible work being done by the charity.
Members of our Veterans’ Combat Café will be holding a bucket collecting outside turnstiles and the club shop ahead of the match, with every donation helping to support the many programmes that are delivered by the Foundation.
In the stands, a live Q&A session will be held in the Norman Hunter Suite, Pavillion and Hisense Lounge with Frances Milner, the Leeds United Foundation CEO and Michael Kinsey, Head of Partnerships at the Foundation. These will provide fans with the opportunity to learn more about the amazing services that are provided by the club’s charity.
The club will also be hosting a number of special guests, including 10 participants from various programmes who will be treated to an exclusive pitch-side experience to watch the players warm-up, with official club photographers on hand to capture the special moment.
If any fans would like to show their appreciation of the work being done in our local community, you can make a donation to the Leeds United Foundation by texting THREE, FIVE or TEN to 70711 to contribute £3, £5 or £10. (Standard message rate applies. 100% of your donation goes to the Foundation, less processing fees. GiftAid can be added via the link provided).
