Speaking to LUTV after scoring the third goal of the tie, striker Joël Piroe was delighted to get his name on the scoresheet and see his side progress to the quarter-finals of the Emirates FA Cup for the first time since 2003.
Last season’s Championship golden boot winner converted with a first-time finish, latching onto a pass by Lukas Nmecha to mark his return to the starting lineup.
“It is always a pleasure to score and always gives you an extra boost. It is what you want as a striker or forward player especially.
“It feels good! We knew we would be favourites today but then to win in this way is also very important for us.
“I think we played really well and we created enough to have better outcomes in the last two games. We just needed to replicate that and add the goals to it as well.”
Reflecting on his first-time finish, the forward added: “When the ball gets rolled into you like that, you only think it has to be on target. I would say if I do this ten times, it should be nine times at least a goal.
Looking ahead of tonight’s Emirates FA Cup quarter-finals draw: “We are hoping for another home game and then it doesn’t matter who it is, then we will be happy.”
