Jacob Howard delivers for England U17s against Australia

Jacob Howard played a starring role for England U17s today, as the 16-year-old headed home the equaliser in their 1-1 draw with Australia U17s in Dubai.

After Australia took the lead midway through the first half with a high-press move and finish from Max Court, England responded in the second half. Howard rose at the far post to power a header beyond the keeper from Mathis Eboué’s free-kick in the 53rd minute.

Later in the game, Howard pushed forward from defence and was narrowly denied as England chased a winner.

At club level, Howard has made six appearances for Leeds United U18s this season, captaining the side in a 0-0 draw with Manchester United, and has featured twice for Leeds United U21s, where he recorded an assist in the 2-2 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion U21s earlier in the month.

Howard’s headed goal helped England end their Dubai campaign with a draw and provided a solid display from the youngster while away with his country.
