Leeds United return to Premier League action Sunday afternoon as they travel to London to face Brentford.
The match is certain to be an entertaining one and Ilia Gruev gave his thoughts to the media, ahead of the fixture.
“We feel really good after this week,” Gruev reflected, after a week of tough preparation on the training ground.
“We must be self-confident, but we also know Brentford will be a tough game with a lot of set pieces and a lot of throw-ins. It will not be easy, but we want to play our game there and get a good result.”
Gruev expressed that Leeds’ tough recent run of fixtures has shown the Whites’ determination. “First of all, away against Manchester City, we had a difficult first half, but then I think we played well in the second half.
"What I love about this team is that we don't give up. If we are sometimes 1-0 or 2-0 down, like with City and Liverpool, we continue. We can compete at the highest level and sometimes can even be better than some of the best teams in the world.
"All three of City, Chelsea, and Liverpool are top, top teams. We know that we can do this, but you also must show it, and we did it this past week. These were massive points for us and good performances.
“I think it is one of the most important things in football to have self-confidence, to believe in what you are doing. We believe in what we do, what we can do, and in our quality.
“There are going to be days where, because you believe, you win. Of course, sometimes there are going to be days where you will lose, but you still went out with a belief of winning. I really like this mentality and positivity in our group.
“At the end of the day, we just try to focus on ourselves, the results happen, we continue.”
