Leeds United welcomed Prostate Cancer UK and fundraiser John Brownless to Elland Road for the Crystal Palace game as part of the Prostate United campaign.

There’s one rival every football club shares: prostate cancer. Every 45 minutes, one man dies from the disease in the UK, and this October, Prostate United is encouraging football fans to get active while helping raise vital funds and awareness.

Leeds United were pleased to support the initiative on Sunday, welcoming representatives from the organisation to Elland Road for matchday.

The charity had a presence in the Fan Zone to speak to fans about the importance of understanding prostate cancer and the risks associated with the disease, with John providing a first-hand perspective.

John was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2004 and has since dedicated himself to raising awareness and funds for Prostate Cancer UK. His incredible fundraising efforts have now raised more than £200,000 for the charity.

Through Prostate United, football fans have the opportunity to come together and make a difference while representing the club they love.

Leeds United supporters can take part by walking or running 5km a day, or cycling 10km, throughout October, with activities able to be completed wherever and whenever suits. Simply sign up, select Leeds United as your club and log your activities throughout the month, either through the Prostate United website or by connecting your Strava account.

The Whites currently sit in fifth place in the league standings having raised over £6,000 already thanks to the generosity of supporters.

Every kilometre will help raise awareness and funds for Prostate Cancer UK, while bringing the Leeds United community together behind an important cause.
