Leeds United defender Gabriel Gudmundsson has been called up to the Sweden national team for their November World Cup qualifying matches against Switzerland and Slovenia.

The 26-year-old, born in Malmö, has made 10 Premier League appearances for Leeds this season and is part of Graham Potter’s first squad since being appointed Sweden manager last month.

Sweden will face Switzerland in Geneva on Saturday, 15 November (19:45 GMT) before hosting Slovenia on Tuesday, 18 November (19:45 GMT) at the Strawberry Arena in Stockholm. Both fixtures are part of Sweden’s bid to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

Gudmundsson, who joined Leeds from Lille in the summer, has won 19 international caps and is expected to compete for a starting role in Potter’s setup.

Potter, formerly in charge of Brighton, Chelsea and West Ham, succeeded Jon Dahl Tomasson as Sweden manager in October. The November window will mark his first opportunity to lead the team in competitive action.
