Gabriel Gudmundsson: I really enjoyed that one

Defender gives his views on the win over Everton.

Gudmundsson Corner Everton

Leeds United left it late to secure an opening day victory over Everton in the Premier League, with Lukas Nmecha scoring an 84th minute penalty at Elland Road.

With time ticking away, the Whites found a winner in the game, and could also boast an impressive clean sheet after solid defending at the back.

Playing an influential part in the win was full-back Gabriel Gudmundsson, who gave his thoughts to LUTV after the full-time whistle.

He said: “I really enjoyed that one, I can tell you that.

“It was the first game and it was really important for us to start very well. We know what it means to get three points today.

“We showed real confidence and we showed heart today, we suffered together, and we played very, very well. So I think we deserve really three points today.

“Also we have to have this atmosphere we had today [in the upcoming matches], it was amazing, it was so good, and we need them to push us.

“I mean, obviously you focus on the game, you're so into the game, but you know hearing the crowd shouting and cheering, it's so nice.

“It also makes a small percent to even work even more and to run even more, to fight even more. So just keep doing that.”
