Leeds United made it four games unbeaten with a scintillating 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace in the final fixture before Christmas!
After Dominic Calvert-Lewin had fired the Whites into a two-goal lead, skipper Ethan Ampadu extended the advantage with his first Premier League goal of the campaign.
Speaking after the full-time whistle, the Wales international told the media: “I think it is like the message that we have been saying for a little bit of a while now.
“I think we maybe lost three or four in a row and we wanted to get back to our ways and sort of do the basics and show the hard work and the fight and the spirit that the Leeds United team just showed.
“Then we picked up some good results and started to build a bit of momentum. So, I think the message was clear to try and go and do that again.”
Having netted just his third ever goal for the club, the captain then discussed what getting on the scoresheet means to him.
“A lot of people have been getting on to my shooting recently,” he smiled. “It is not because I shoot it from outside the box and I keep joking around to everyone saying that I need to be inside the box and that I was just probably better off that I didn't get a chance to think about shooting.”
Ampadu finished by thanking the fans for once again showing their tremendous backing on another memorable Elland Road evening.
“The support, even for those games where I said it was a bit hard for us, results-wise and performances-wise, they stuck through us as we always know they will.
“So hopefully they can enjoy that Saturday night under the lights at Elland Road and wish everyone a Merry Christmas.”
