Anton Stach: We are very happy

Midfielder’s thoughts after Palace victory.

Anton Stach celebrating

Anton Stach curled home a sublime last-minute free kick to round off what was another a memorable Elland Road evening.

An earlier brace from Dominic Calvert-Lewin and predatory strike from Ethan Ampadu had put Daniel Farke’s side on course for all three points before the German added gloss to the scoreline!

“I think it is good, it is especially important for our goal difference,” the midfielder said after the full-time whistle.

“So we take the goal and of course the most important are the three points today. We are very happy that we got this!

“I just saw the opportunity to score because, I mean, I had already scored one [free kick] so I was confident.

“I think it was a tough game. It was difficult in the first half, we scored nearly everything out of set-pieces. That is why it is so important to be switched on in these situations.

“We need to keep going, we need to be brave, we need to go and press because then it is hard to play against us.

“I think we had many really good chances in the second half, it was a really good half and only after the goal from Crystal Palace, it was some tough minutes.”

Alongside Stach’s curling effort, the Whites threatened from set-pieces all evening, something Anton heaped praise on his teammates for.

“I think you need to be concentrated all the time and we know Ethan has a really long throw-in, and we have very big, strong guys in the middle.

“We try to create some chaos, the same with corner kicks and I think it was really good today, or over the last week.”
