Leeds United return to Premier League action this weekend with a trip to face Nottingham Forest away from home on Sunday afternoon.
After a disappointing result at Brighton & Hove Albion last time out, Daniel Farke’s side will be looking to get back to winning ways in the East Midlands.
Ahead of the clash, Ethan Ampadu believes there is more to come from the team and hopes the Whites can recapture their best form.
“We want to try and pick up as many points as we can, put in the performances that we know we can, learn lessons that have been throughout difficult games that we can do better with,” the 25-year-old said.
“Just making sure that we get ourselves into a good place, a good rhythm, and show what we are capable of [is crucial].
“There has been games where we feel like we have performed okay and should have maybe got a little bit more out of but even if you just give 10 seconds of a lack of concentration, the other team can go and punish you no matter who you are playing in this league.
“That has definitely been a learning curve and other things are just learning curves that we have learned from ourselves and what helps us and enables us to put in our best performances.
“I know what this team is capable of, playing with the ball and how comfortable and dominant this team can be on the ball.
“You start fast, and I feel like we didn’t do that the weekend, and then of course in this league you are going to get punished.
“So, I think there are a lot of things we look at and we try to work on but, you know, a main point is probably just as a team, being confident and brave and smart.”
Looking ahead to the clash at the City Ground, the skipper explained the hosts’ recent upturn in form comes as no surprise given the experience of boss Sean Dyche and the quality of the squad.
“There is that thing where when a new manager comes in, it might give a team a bit of freshness, a bit more belief,” Ampadu added.
“So we know, first of all, it is going to be a very difficult away game. They are going to want to win all the duels. They are going to want to win the battles.
“They are also going to try and play their football and their style to win the game. So, we know that especially a lesson from the Brighton game is we have to start quicker.
“We know we are going to be in for a tough game. They are going to be right up for it, as they should be, and it is just trying to match that intensity from the very start.”
