Preparations for the upcoming Premier League campaign ramp up a gear as Leeds United travel to Dublin to face rivals Manchester United.
The exciting friendly takes place at the city’s iconic Croke Park in a first ever club-football match played at the famous Gaelic games venue.
The Whites head into the clash in good form across a productive summer, most recently beating Bundesliga heavyweights RB Leipzig at Elland Road.
Played in a differing format of two 60-minute halves, goals in each period from Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha were enough to see off the Saxony outfit on the return to LS11.
Leeds also secured minutes in legs as they headed across the Atlantic for a tour of the United States of America where they faced Wrexham, Sunderland and Liverpool, notably achieving an impressive 4-2 comeback victory over the Reds after being two down at the break.
Last season, Daniel Farke’s side deservedly took four points off Wednesday’s opposition. In the first clash, the spoils were shared as Brenden Aaronson drew first blood in the 62nd minute with a well taken solo effort, but a quickfire response ensured the Elland Road meeting finished level.
However, a night to remember then came over the Pennines as Noah Okafor bagged twice to give Leeds a 2-0 lead before the break at Old Trafford. After a resilient second half, the hosts’ one goal wasn’t enough and the Whites were victorious at the stadium for the first time in 45 years in league action.
