England men’s under-21s will no longer travel to play Romania on Friday after two positive COVID-19 tests were reported within the party of players and support staff.
The decision has been taken to cancel the trip as a precaution and England have thanked the Romanian Football Federation for their understanding.
Leeds United under-23s captain Charlie Cresswell was named in Lee Carsley’s first England under-21s squad last month and has been training with the team at St. George’s Park, where the squad will now remain after the individuals concerned were immediately isolated from the rest of the group.
The Young Lions’ focus will now switch to preparing for their home game against Kosovo, set to take place on Tuesday 7th September at MK Dons to mark the start of qualifying for the 2023 UEFA European Under-21 Championship.
