The match officials for Leeds United’s Sky Bet Championship clash with Derby County on Saturday have been announced, with Matthew Donohue set to take charge at Elland Road.
Originally an assistant by trade, Donohue swapped the flag for the whistle in 2016, rising up the divisions from non-league to the officiate in the Premier League, with both fixtures in the top-flight coming towards the end of last season.
The Whites have an impressive record when the Greater Manchester-based official has overseen their matches, winning three times, drawing once and losing just once.
Saturday’s clash will mark a quick return to Elland Road for Donohue, who most recently took charge of Leeds’ 2-0 victory over Queens Park Rangers in November, thanks to goals from Jayden Bogle and Joël Piroe.
Visiting Derby County, meanwhile, have won four times in their seven matches refereed by Donohue to date, previously edging out Cardiff City at Pride Park earlier this campaign.
So far this term, Donohue has taken charge of 10 Sky Bet Championship matches and one Carabao Cup tie, which saw Premier League outfit Crystal Palace cruise past Norwich City with a 4-0 victory at Selhurst Park.
