Leeds United return to Elland Road on Friday evening, take on West Bromwich Albion in the Sky Bet Championship.

The Whites face the Baggies under the lights in West Yorkshire, in the 8pm kick-off, looking for their first win of the 2023/24 campaign after a draw and a loss in the first two matches.

Speaking to the media at Thorp Arch ahead of the match, Daniel Farke gave his thoughts when asked about the early season spirit within the group.

He said: “The spirit is good!

“I’ve praised my lads already, it is not possible to come back in the last two home games when you are two down and one down at half-time, without it.

“We showed great spirit in terms of working a lot and spirit is good.

“We also have to prepare from a tactical point of view for a challenge of West Brom."

As always heading into the next fixture, the manager was asked about the fitness of his squad and he gave an update on that.

Farke explained: “We had some bad news with Leo Hjelde.

“He had a concussion in training and we have to follow the concussion protocol of the league, so he will be out until next Monday and is not available for this game.

“But, on the other hand, Sam Greenwood is back in training and was able to train the full week.

“Also, Georginio Rutter and Joe Rodon have had a proper training week so far, they are in the mix for the team, so some good news but it is still a tricky week.

“I am convinced next week our situation will look a lot better. It’s a bit tricky for the game on Friday, but we will have a competitive side and fight for the points.”
