The Leeds United Foundation recently delivered the I Can Lead Award with youngsters at Elland Road through their partnership with the Prince’s Trust.
The I Can Lead Award is about encouraging participation and leading in sport and physical activity, with the club’s official charity working to create more young leaders that can develop their knowledge and skillset to benefit themselves and others.
Throughout the week-long course the young people worked on a number of different areas and took part in a number of different workshops, looking at:
- Communication skills with confidence
- Understanding the world of sport and activity leadership
- Developing a personal action plan for future involvement in sports leadership
- STEP principle (Space, Task, Equipment, and Player)
- The FA Four Corner Model
- Practice design
- Health and fitness
- Officiating
As part of the course, students also received a certification and workbook, along with feedback from their tutors.
The Leeds United Foundation will be delivering another week-long course for the I Can Lead Award alongside the Prince’s Trust in October 2023, for any young people that are interested in getting involved.
There will be a taster session hosted at Elland Road on Tuesday 24th October, with the course beginning on Monday 30th October for five days.
