Leeds United began 2024 with an impressive three points, comfortably overcoming Birmingham City at Elland Road.

The Whites scored three goals through Patrick Bamford, Dan James and Crysencio Summerville on their way to claiming the points, extending their unbeaten home league run to 13 games.

Speaking after the game, Daniel Farke gave his thoughts to the media.

He said: “It was very important, we wanted to return back to winning ways.

“We needed to dig in to open the game with a goal and we did this in a brilliant way with position play and a perfect assist of Dan James and good header of Patrick Bamford.

“Then you felt the confidence is back and the rhythm is back. We controlled the game, we were all over them and didn’t allow them to have chances.

“I was a bit concerned at the beginning of the second half, we had so many good situations but we didn’t bury the game with the third goal.

“But then, obviously after we got the third goal, everything was clear cut and we should perhaps have scored a few more.

“It was a really good performance, perhaps not perfect as we had one or two unnecessary losses of the ball which led to a big chance in one situation, Kristoffer was there with good positioning.

“There was a big will to return back to the dressing room with a clean sheet and for that, many, many compliments to the lads.”
