Leeds United will take on Rotherham United in a Yorkshire derby on Friday evening, at the AESSEAL New York Stadium.
The Whites face the Millers for the first time since the 2018/19 campaign and will head to South Yorkshire straight after the international break, resuming their Sky Bet Championship fixture list.
Speaking prior to the match, manager Daniel Farke gave his thoughts on the game, and the problems of facing a side who are battling for every point.
“Well it is always important to set the tone and make sure you’re in a good rhythm and play with energy and confidence,” Farke explained.
“The first minutes of the game are often decisive. First of all from the mood and belief, self confidence, and when there is a goal from a tactical point of view.
“When you face a side who is sitting deep, when you go into the lead it always helps when they have to open up a bit more.
“So it’s in many ways important to start on the front foot and a goal is also important but sometimes you can’t choose, also your opponent wants to start on the front foot.
“We have to make sure our awareness and sharpness is on the top level.
“When you face a side like Rotherham who are, especially in their home games, who I would say is playing brave and with intensity, they can go with a long ball and fight for the second balls.
“They create throw-ins, corner kicks, then the whole stadium is buzzing and they play with fighting spirit.
“We have to make sure we play with the same intensity that Rotherham will do.”
