Leeds United Women were victorious against Harrogate Town Women in the West Riding FA County Cup Quarter Final on Saturday afternoon, in front of a crowd of 1,032 at The Exercise Stadium.

Simon Wood made three changes to the side from last time out against Doncaster Rovers Belles, introducing Charlotte Oates in goal, Izzy Elliott at centre-half, and Macy Ellis on the wing.

The hosts got off to a perfect start, as despite some opening pressure from Leeds, Hannah Sturdy found the back of the net from range.

Seeking a leveller, the Whites came forward with intent. Following some decent stops from Amy Hood in the Harrogate goal, the ball eventually fell kindly to Drew Greene, who tapped into the back of the net from close range.

Ten minutes after the leveller, a flurry of corners eventually materialised into a clear-cut chance, as Alice Hughes headed into the back of the net following Ellie White’s dead-ball.

The Whites grabbed another in the 38th minute, as Amy Woodruff found some space on the edge of the box before setting herself and belting into the back of the net, leaving the ‘keeper rooted.

HALF TIME: Harrogate Town Women 1-3 Leeds United Women

In contrast to the first half, Leeds were quick out of the blocks in the second. United scored just two minutes after the restart through Amy Woodruff, who tapped into an empty net following Darcie Greene’s attempt on goal, which was parried into the number-14’s path.

Ellie White too got on the scoresheet halfway through the second half, as she lashed into the bottom right corner from just inside the box, before two minutes later, Woodruff secured her hattrick as she picked up a loose ball in the box and fired across the ‘keeper to make it six.

Ellis added to the tally after another two minutes, as she headed Whites' cross into the back of the net from the centre of the box. The two most recent goalscorers combined again with ten to play, Ellis breaking through the hosts’ defence and squaring to White to grab her second of the afternoon.

After playing eight minutes of added time, Neil Mills blew the full time whistle to secure Leeds' spot in the Semi-finals!

Leeds are back in action on Wednesday, hosting York City Ladies under the lights at the Bannister Prentice Stadium in the FA WNL Division One North.
