Recently, Leeds United Women’s ever-present shot-spotter Carrie Simpson reached a milestone 100 appearances for the side, achieving the feat against Huddersfield Town Women at the Bannister Prentice Stadium.

As Simon Wood’s side continue their battle at the top of the FA WNL Division One North table, Simpson spoke on her achievement, and her journey so far in the famous white shirt.

“I've always been a Leeds United fan. It is such a great club to play for, a big club, and being a supporter, it makes it even better to play here,” the ‘keeper said.

“Since I've joined, the team's come such a long way. We've gone from being a mid-table team to where we are now, pushing for results and pushing for the title. It's really exciting.

“I've seen it change from the women being a bit more separate, to come in as part of the club, which has been absolutely massive for us. And the support we've got from the club and in terms of facilities and what we're building, I think is brilliant.

“Every time I pull on the Leeds shirt, I'm very proud. As a Leeds fan, that's sort of all you can ever really wish for and dream of. It is special and I think it means a lot more when you're walking out to Marching on Together with the fans there. It's brilliant.”

There have been some memorable moments for Carrie over her time with the Whites: “I think my favourite’s got to be winning the plate, that was good, we had such a good run that season. We also played Arsenal. Although the result obviously didn't go our way, that was a very good experience.

"And then last season, winning the County Cup with that group was fantastic. We hadn't won that cup for a very long time and obviously being able to play my part in penalties at the end made it all that more special and I'm looking forward to the future of the club.

"I think we are we are improving massively; the structure's improved and the club's definitely wanting to push in the right direction supporting the women's team which I've played for a lot of years.

"I'm one of the older and more senior players in the team and seeing how far women's football has come on its own and Leeds as a club, it's brilliant.

"I think we can only keep pushing towards that and keep building the foundations we're building now to to be a better club overall in the years to come and well beyond my playing years, which is definitely a really exciting time at the club.

"It's such a great club to be part of and one that I'm definitely proud of."
