Calvert-Lewin claims Hisense Player of the Match honours in 4-1 win

DCL Palace Post Match Clapping

Leeds United supporters voted Dominic Calvert-Lewin as the Hisense Player of the Match following Saturday night’s emphatic 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Elland Road.

The striker delivered a decisive first-half performance under the lights, scoring twice in quick succession to put Leeds firmly in control. Calvert-Lewin opened the scoring in the 38th minute before doubling his tally just before the interval, finding the net again in the 45th minute to send the Whites into the break with a commanding lead.

Leeds maintained their authority after half-time. Captain Ethan Ampadu made it 3-1 on the hour mark, before Anton Stach added a late fourth deep into stoppage time to cap a dominant team display.

Calvert-Lewin played 87 minutes and was a constant focal point in the final third. He registered two goals from three shots, had 26 touches of the ball - 10 of those inside the opposition penalty area - and completed six passes. The forward also created one chance, made a defensive contribution including a clearance, and won four duels, underlining his all-round impact on the contest.

The goals continued an impressive run of form for the striker, who has now scored six times in his last five matches.

In the Hisense Player of the Match vote, Calvert-Lewin claimed 50% of the supporters’ vote. Ampadu followed with 29%, while Brenden Aaronson received 12% and Joe Rodon picked up 3%.
