Ahead of Sunday’s Sky Bet Championship opener with Bristol City at Ashton Gate, we look back on our five previous meetings with the Robins.

Tuesday 14th February 2017- Leeds United 2-1 Bristol City

Leeds went six points clear of seventh as Chris Wood bagged his 22nd goal of the campaign in this victory over Bristol City at Elland Road. Leeds got the first goal of the evening as Wood calmly slotted home after some quick Pablo Hernandez thinking at a free-kick. Leeds then doubled the advantage after Hernandez’s deflected strike rolled into the bottom corner. The Whites controlled the game, however gave up their clean sheet in the 96th minute as Matty Taylor headed home from a corner.

Saturday 21st October 2017- Bristol City 0-3 Leeds United

Back in October 2017, Thomas Christiansen’s side put on an extremely impressive performance as they were 3-0 victors as Ashton Gate. Leeds started brightly and midfielder Samuel Saiz opened the scoring with his first of the afternoon after only four minutes. Saiz grabbed his second just 10 minutes later after a defensive mix-up and Leeds were two goals to the good with just 14 minutes on the clock. Midway through the second half German loan man Pierre-Michel Lasogga headed home from a corner to secure the three points for Leeds. Both sides were reduced to 10 men late on after a controversial incident involving Gaetano Berardi and Matty Taylor.

Sunday 18th February 2018- Leeds United 2-2 Bristol City

A second half comeback saw Leeds come from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Bristol City at Elland Road.  The Robins flew out the traps and quickly went into a two goal lead thanks to goals from Bobby Reid and Famara Diedhiou. Leeds found a way back into the game as Pierre-Michel Lasogga halved the deficit with a volley. Roofe then levelled things up with a poachers goal from an in swinging Hernandez corner.  Leeds nearly snatched all three points, but Lasogga’s effort cannoned off the crossbar with seconds to go.

Saturday 24th November 2018- Leeds United 2-0 Bristol City

Leeds sat fourth as they hosted the Robins in the first game back from the international break. The Whites controlled the first half, but couldn’t find the breakthrough despite creating multiple chances. The turning point was when Bristol City midfielder Josh Brownhill received his second yellow card for a late tackle on Kemar Roofe. Leeds made their one man advantage count as Roofe pounced on a mis-hit Hernandez shot and put Leeds one up. Hernandez then doubled the advantage after he headed home with four minutes to go.

Saturday 9th March 2019- Bristol City 0-1 Leeds United

Leeds headed to Ashton Gate with a chance to cement their place in the top two. A week earlier Leeds dismantled West Bromwich Albion 4-1 in one of the performances of the season and with the momentum behind them, the Whites started the better of the two teams. Patrick Bamford prodded home after just nine minutes to give Leeds a deserved lead, before clattering with the post after Luke Ayling's low cross. Leeds continued to dominate proceedings and Tyler Roberts nearly added a second after some skilful build up play from Jack Harrison, as Leeds took all three points home.
