Abbie Brown chatted with LUTV after the Vitality Women’s FA Cup First Round victory away at Hartlepool United Women on Women's Football Weekend.

The forward was superb throughout the game, finding the back of the net and also laying on assists for her teammates during the 4-0 win.

Speaking after the match, Brown said: “It was a good win, we want to go far in this competition.

“It was good that we went in ahead at half-time then we came out firing in the second half to get through to the next round.

“I felt I did alright today! As an attacker you want to score goals and get assists, so it was nice that it happened for me out there.

“There were a lot fans out here supporting today, so it was nice to put in a good performance and make Leeds known in the Women’s game.

“It’s good that people are paying an interest, they came out here and wanted to watch us, and we got the win which was important.”

With the draw for the Second Round coming up on Monday afternoon, Brown wants to see her side continuing to progress in a competition she is enjoying being part of.

“The further you go, the more chance you have to play one of the bigger teams and that is the level we are striving to be at,” she explained.

“It’s exciting. The journey has started and you have to win games like this one against Hartlepool to get there, so we are excited now to see what that brings.”
