Leeds United Women manager Dan O’Hearne chatted with LUTV after seeing his side win away at Hartlepool United Women.

The 4-0 victory sends the Whites through to the Second Round of the Vitality Women’s FA Cup and the manager gave his thoughts on the match after the game.

“It was a safe passage through to the next round,” O’Hearne explained.

“It was a good win with four goals and a clean sheet. We made hard work of it in the first half if I am honest, they made it hard for us to break them down.

“There was a big crowd here today, they’ve got great backing up here.

“We knew in the first 15 or 20 minutes they would make it into a battle and that’s what they did. We had to be patient and then got our opening, with a great goal from Laura Bartup.

“Once we got the goal it relaxed us a little bit and in the second half when we came out, that early goal settled us down again. We then managed to score another couple of goals which was good to see!

“I also felt the substitutes all played really well when they came on and that’s what we asked them to do. Especially Paige Williams, it was great to see her get a goal as well.”

O’Hearne is pleased with the way his side are handling the demands of cup competitions and knock-out football, as he now hopes for a home draw in the next round.

He said: “If someone makes a mistake in a knock-out match at 0-0, you could go out of the cup. After last week and this week, we’re finding a way to win these cup games.

“Everyone wants to do well in the FA Cup, and we’re in the next round, so we’re hoping for a home draw this time!

“Hartlepool made a big deal about today’s game and a lot of people came to watch them. They never stopped working hard throughout and we wish them the best for the rest of the season."
