EMMA THANKS CLUB FOR SUPPORT

Leeds United Ladies captain looking forward to being part of the Yorkshire derby this weekend...

Leeds United Ladies players and staff will be making a guest appearance at Elland Road this Saturday after being invited to play a part in the clubs ‘Ladies Day’ at this Saturday's fixture against Yorkshire rivals Doncaster Rovers (3pm).

Invited to the game by Leeds United managing director and Leeds United Ladies chairman David Haigh ahead of their own Elland Road game against Blackburn Rovers Ladies on Sunday 13 April (2pm), the Ladies players will enjoy a behind the scenes tour round the Elland Road facilities before interacting with fans in the FamilyZone and stopping by pitchside for interviews.

Leeds United Ladies player Emma Coates will be one of the players in attendance at the game and is thrilled to see the level of support that Leeds United are showing to the Ladies club.

Coates said: “It’s a fantastic feeling to see the level of support Leeds United are showing to the Ladies club. To have the opportunity to play a game at Elland Road for only the second time in the clubs 25 year history was great news for everyone associated with the club but to then follow it up by inviting us down to be a part of ‘Ladies Day’ and help us raise awareness and interest for that game is just absolutely fantastic.”

A graduate of the Leeds United Girls Centre of Excellence Emma has been with Leeds since the age of ten and has recently taken over captain duties while club skipper Erin White has been sidelined through injury. In addition to her playing duties with Leeds United Ladies, at 22 Coates is also one of the youngest Uefa B Qualified coaches in the country having spent several years working for the Leeds United Foundation and Leeds United Girls Centre of Excllence before recently leaving the Foundation to take up a coaching role with the FA.

Emma commented: “We’re hoping that our game at Elland Road against Blackburn will be a fantastic show piece for Women’s football in the city. We had nearly a thousand people come to our game against Manchester City at Elland Road last season and we’re hopeful that with the extra promotion and support from Leeds United that we’ll have a chance to push past that figure this time round.”

The Leeds United Ladies game at Elland Road on Sunday 13 April will see them take on Blackburn Rovers in FA Women’s Premier League North action.
