SLOTH CHASING FIRST-TEAM FOOTBALL

Midfielder admits he would be open to a loan move...

Danish midfielder Casper Sloth says he would be open to a loan move in order to gain regular first-team football after a frustrating spell out of the picture at United.

Sloth, a summer 2014 signing from homeland side Aarhus, featured 14 times during his debut season in English football but is yet to make a single appearance so far this term.

The 23-year-old, who has another two years remaining on his current deal at Elland Road, has been a regular for the Under-21s in recent weeks and netted the winner in Monday afternoon’s 2-1 victory away to Coventry City.

Sloth is hoping his displays with the United youngsters can boost his chances of a return to the senior team, otherwise he admits he would be willing to spend time out on loan if that opportunity does not arise.

“Of  course,”  he said when asked about a potential loan move. “I must be honest and say that I’m not here to play Under-21s football, even though it is good to get some games to keep my match fitness going.

“I want to play first-team football, so we’ll see what happens. It’s not just up to me to decide.

“The only thing I can do is perform when I’m playing here (with the Under-21s).

“I can’t really change what’s going on with the first team so this is the only thing I can do.

“It hasn’t just been a few months (out of the first-team picture), it’s nearer to nine or ten months. But that’s football and I can’t really change anything about it.

“All I can do is show something when I play in the Under-21s, that’s what I’m trying to do.

“It’s good to get goals – I think I’ve scored four in my last four here now. I want to add goals to my game and, even though it’s only Under-21s, I’m pleased to get them.”
