SAM’S FIT AND READY FOR NEW SEASON

SAM'S FIT AND READY FOR NEW SEASON 6.6.14

Sam Byram looks ahead to the new campaign…

United defender Sam Byram is looking to put a frustrating season behind him and get back to playing his best football.

Sam suffered several injury setbacks during the 2013/14 season and missed the final six matches of the campaign, but the young defender still managed 27 appearances.

That didn’t compare to his first professional season at United, when he made 50 appearances for the club and won a clean sweep at the club's end of season awards night.

The defender states that he is feeling healthy ahead of the new campaign but is banking on a successful pre-season.

“I’m feeling good. I’ve been coming in a couple of times a week to receive treatment over the summer and I’m getting there now,” said the defender. “The strength is good as well.

“I want to get back to my form from my first season. I need to make sure that I keep myself injury free so that I can have a good year.

“I have been injured a lot this year so I can’t wait to get back playing. Pre-season is a great time to get away with the lads to bond as a team.

“I missed pre-season last summer but the pre-season schedule is massive. It sets you up for the year.

“We are all hungry to get back and for the games to start and get us further up the table.”
