BOSS FOCUSED ON THE GAME

Brian McDermott looks ahead to the Huddersfield match…

United boss Brian McDermott insists that he is ‘completely focused’ on Saturday’s match at Elland Road against Yorkshire neighbours Huddersfield Town (3pm).

The squad have trained well since Tuesday's draw with Ipswich and the manager is looking forward to the next big game.

“I can’t wait for the game,” said the boss. “It is an absolute privilege to be walking out as manager of this club.

“It is a derby game and I am just completely focused on this game and nothing else.

“We’ve got a big game on Saturday against Huddersfield Town. The players have been training really well this week and we are all looking forward to the game. It’s a derby and I can’t wait.”

Elland Road is looking to host another bumper crowd on Saturday and the manager is banking on the supporters to get behind his team and create a real siege mentality.

“The most important thing for me, and I know that we will get it, is that the supporters get behind the team on Saturday,” said the manager.

“We want to win this game and get the three points. Nothing else matters to me.

“I have no new injury concerns, everyone came through Tuesday night well and we have put our team together. We know all about Huddersfield.

“I just hope that there will be a big crowd at Elland Road. We will have a real siege mentality around that ground on Saturday.”
