The club has launched an appeal against Matt Smith's red card he received on Saturday January 11.

The United striker was given a straight red card in the early stages of the second half in our defeat at Sheffield Wednesday for violent conduct after an incident with Reda Johnson.

As it stands the player is facing a three-match ban following his dismissal, but an appeal will be heard by the Football Association on Tuesday.

Should the appeal be successful, the FA will overturn the card and the subsequent suspension.
